Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28 the 28th of October, 1967. Her grandfather, her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer who was also the first Roberts to settle in Atlanta. Early in his life the father of her mother became obsessed by the theater. In 1952, while studying at Emory University, he performed in several productions in Atlanta. He joined the Air Force, and was stationed at Biloxi in Mississippi acted in a production together with Betty Lou Bredemus. The two married in 1955 and the couple's first child Eric Anthony was born in 1956. Walter went to Tulane University at New Orleans in the year 1957, after the couple had left the US Air Force. The family relocated in 1960 into Decatur Georgia where Walter began working for Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. Walter and Betty Lou financed their own production of a Sunday morning children's show, Bum Bum and His Buddies. In the following year, they established The Actors and Writers Workshop which was in operation for six years. In the meantime, they also had two children Lelisa (called Lisa) Billingsley in the year 1965 as well as Julia (called Julie) in 1967.
