Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. Julia Fona Roberts is the 4th generation Roberts living in Atlanta. At an early age, her father began to take an interest in theater. He was a part of his Emory University campus in 1952 and in other productions that were staged around Atlanta. After joining the airforce and appearing in an airforce production in Biloxi with Betty Lou Bredemus. In 1955, the couple got married and in 1956 their child Eric Anthony was born. Walter was a student at Tulane University at New Orleans In 1957, the city of Louisiana where the couple left the US Air Force. Walter started working at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. The year 1964 was when Walter and Betty Lou began production on a local children's Saturday morning television show known as Bum Bum and His Buddies that they funded their own. In 1964 Betty Lou and Walter founded their own organization called the Actors and Writers Workshop. It ran for about six years. They had Lelisa Billingsley (also called Lisa) as well as Julia (also known as Julie) at the time.
